Post # 2: The Primal Teen

It was very interesting to read about the new possibilities that it may be more that just hormones that drive teens to do things without thinking. Is that why kids throw things in class or run out of the classroom chasing each other? (This happened in my practicum last semester.) It feels like I never understood why teenagers or kids did things that would get them in trouble... not thinking about the consequences could definitely explain that. I agree that it was very interesting to learn that the brain may not really be finished growing at the age of three, but continues to grow until a much older age.
One thing that is interesting in the book is that the parents examples mostly involve their teens... there are very few examples given about the parents themselves remembering things they did that could have gotten them in a lot of trouble. Sometimes it seems that people forget how they acted at certain ages and maybe if they did think about it, they would at least be able to see that today's teens are not the only 'crazy' ones in history.
